Patey is a great all around mare to do whatever you’d like to try your hand at. While I have primarily foxhunted her, she would also make an excellent event, hunter, jumper prospect. She has all the tools to help her excell whichever direction she goes with her next rider!
At home: Patey hacks out alone or in company. She is happy to lead or follow. She is incredibly brave and honest on the trail and handles traffic, wildlife, and other obstacles with a steady head. Goes very nicely in the ring, WTC. A forward ride with her own motor, but has brakes and responsive to aids. Happy to jump around in the ring over colored fences or natural jumps on the trail. Honest and straight forward to the fences with plenty of scope. She is unfazed by riding with dogs and other animals at home. On the ground, Patey clips, bathes, crossties, ties to the wall, stands to be shod, etc very well. She has a personable and friendly personality that makes her a joy to have in the barn.
Off Farm: Patey is easy to take off farm for lessons and clinics. She loads and trailers(alone or with other horses) for outings with no issues.
Foxhunting experience: Regularly hunted 1-2 times a week in the 2022/2023 season with multiple PA and MD packs. She attended holiday meets, joint meets, vixen meets, served as a chaperone horse on junior days, as well as being a guest horse. She has hunted on days with just a few riders as well as big days with over 100 riders. She is a first flight type, but has hunted in both jumping and non-jumping fields. Patey will leave the group, jump with no lead(or with a bad one), and have an individual mindset in a group of horses. Patey is good with other horses and hounds. She has jumped up to 3’3” out hunting over logs, coops, telephone poles, post and rail, and other hunting fences. She crosses water and bridges. Patey can open and close gates while mounted or unmounted and stands to be remounted in the crowd. Patey has been hound exercised and started back hunting this summer for the 2023/2024 hunting season.
Like any good mare, Patey is kind, smart, and capable. She loves having a rider that is as forward thinking as she is and she really looks out for her rider. She would be great for a good riding junior or smaller lady looking to do a bit of everything. Current rider is 5’7” and Patey takes up leg well.
We have owned Patey for two years and she is a barn favorite that is an incredibly special little mare!

Auto Bidding:
Auto-bidding is available and is very easy to do! To place an auto-bid, instead of bidding the minimum $200 increment, simply enter the amount of your maximum bid (max bid). Doing this will automatically keep you $200 above everyone else until your max bid is reached or the auction ends, whichever comes first. You may also increase your max bid at any time without your current bid being affected. In the event that your max bid is reached and you are outbid, you will receive a text message letting you know that you have been outbid. This text will include a link for you to use to place a higher bid.
Buyers Premium:
Starting March 6, 2022 we will be implementing a 3% Buyers Premium on all sales.
Buy It Now:
Magic Horse Auction now offers a Buy It Now (BIN) feature on some horses. This feature allows buyers to purchase a horse now and not have to wait until the end of an auction. Our Buy It Now (BIN) option is only available at the sellers discretion. If the seller offers a Buy It Now, a bidder can purchase that horse immediately at a price set by the seller. When the “Buy It Now” button is hit and confirmed, the auction ends immediately and the bidder who activated the BIN is responsible for payment within 48 hrs of activation of BIN.
The “Buy It Now” option will be removed 24 hrs prior to the close of the auction, unless otherwise specified.
Time Addition:
Please be aware that if a bid is placed within 4 minutes of the close of the auction, an additional 2 minutes will be added to the clock to give any other bidders time to place their last minute bid as well. This will continue each time a bid is placed until 2 minutes has gone by with no new bids, at which time the auction will officially close.
Non Payment Fee:
Winning Auction payment arrangements MUST be made within 48 hrs of end of auction. There will be a $1000 non payment fee charged to the credit card on file of any winning bidder found to be in default. This also applies in the event of a bidder defaulting using the Buy It Now feature.
